Review of polling districts and polling places 2023
Why the review process?
The main aim of the review and proposals is to:
- try and identify new polling places in areas where the existing provision is unsuitable or unavailable
- consider, as appropriate, feedback received from recent elections raised by members of the public, elected members and other stakeholders
- ensure, as far as practicable, that any new polling places are accessible to people with disabilities
- ensure that all electors have reasonable facilities for voting
- try to minimise disruption to schools
An Electoral Registration Officer must amend the electoral register. This is to reflect any change in a polling district. These changes will show on the re-publication of the electoral register on 1 February 2024.
All changes must be passed by us. This is why we need to carry out the review ahead of the Council meeting in December 2023.
